Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison for transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters.
Diddy was convicted on two counts of arranging for paid male escorts to travel across state lines to participate in drug-fueled sexual performances with his girlfriends while he recorded video and masturbated.
With credit for the time he’s already served (about 13 months), Diddy will likely spend around 3 more years in prison.
He was fined $500,000.
Diddy will also be transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to a federal facility, although the exact location hasn’t been disclosed.
The prosecution sought a harsher sentence of at least 11 years, while Diddy’s defense team argued for a shorter sentence of 14 months. The judge considered Diddy’s abuse of his girlfriends and the harm caused to them when deciding on the sentence.
In a statement before the sentencing, Diddy apologized to his victims and expressed remorse for his actions, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” His lawyers plan to appeal the sentence, arguing that the judge “second-guessed the jury’s verdict”.
