Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has met the bail condition of GH¢2 million in a case involving corruption and money laundering.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid was required to post a bail of GH¢2 million with two sureties, each earning a net monthly salary of at least GH¢5,000. He also had to report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) biweekly.

The OSP charged Dr. Abdul-Hamid and nine others, including six individuals and three companies, with 25 counts of corruption-related offenses. The alleged crimes occurred between December 2022 and December 2024, involving the extortion of GH¢280.5 million from oil marketing companies and laundering the proceeds through three companies: Propnest Limited, Kel Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.

The six others accused alongside Dr. Abdul-Hamid were granted bail of GH¢2 million each but were unable to meet the conditions, which included providing three sureties, one of whom must provide landed property as security. As a result, they remain in custody.

The case has been adjourned to August 26, 2025, for substantive hearings. The OSP has reiterated its commitment to pursuing the case without fear or favor.
