The Black Stars budget for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali has been significantly cut by the Sports Ministry. Here are the key details.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) submitted a budget of over $2 million for the two matches.

The Sports Ministry approved a revised budget of $1.3 million, representing a cut of approximately $732,750

The breakdown
The budget for the away match against Chad was cut from over $1 million to $856,890.
The budget for the home match against Mali was cut from $814,150 to $463,600.

The areas of reduction include;
The player bonuses have been reduced from $260,000 to $130,000, with players now receiving $5,000 per win.
The head coach bonus reduced from $20,000 to $10,000.
The assistant coaches’ bonuses reduced from $30,000 to $15,000.
The backroom staff bonuses have been reduced from $90,000 to $32,000 for Chad and $36,000 for Mali.
The management officials’ bonuses are entirely scrapped, saving $60,000.

The Sports Ministry defended the cuts, emphasizing the need for fiscal discipline and responsible use of public funds. The Minister, Kofi Adams, stated that the adjustments would not affect the team’s performance or welfare.
